Scribbling

Hi, over the past couple of weeks I have found myself on ALOT of long boring train journeys, and therefore have created a lot of doodles during those long journeys to and from London. Also I have discovered that liquid ink fine liners are awesome!

They're really sketchy and messy because trains are jumpy. Also the guy sat next to me was rather large, so i was pretty much pressed right against the window.

big cheek bones, curly tash, reading glasses, lobe plug, cray hair

this was meant to be abit androgynous, but it looks more female than male. Smoking.. person.

Tea in Paris

I haven't posted in a while, due to being incredibly busy with a building amount of uni work, and returning home to essex for easter.   So heres a brief catch up on some of the stuff I've been working on for the last few weeks!  My project has come to a point where I am finalising ideas and bringing my creative thoughts together. My favourite part of a project! For this project it has been slightly frustrating because I had a good idea of where I wanted to go with it from the beginning. But obviously a great deal of research and planning had to be done before I could dive straight in.  My brief, based around tea of course, initially got me thinking about the origins of tea, which happens to be china. So why does Britain hold such a common stereotype for 'the home of tea'? Well, this is all down to tea consumption in our little country. Believe it or not, us Brits are drinking an average of  165 million cups daily, thats 60.2 billion per year! So no wonder we...

messing with watercolours

I love the concept of the summer project I have been set! I feel that recording my life visually is a much more interesting way of keeping a diary rather than presenting my experiences in a written format. I think this task will be extremely beneficial for me. I love to draw, and I know that once I start I have a great pleasure in creating something that I can be proud of. However for the last week or two I've felt pretty uninspired to say the least. I haven't so much as picked up a pen let alone created anything worth presenting. Theres only one way to get out of that frame of mind though, and that is to push yourself. The best way to work through a rough patch is just to keep creating, despite the fact that you may think what you are creating is slightly shit. Thats why a diary in which I can draw everyday, be it a doodle if I'm feeling lazy, or a half decent drawing, will be great for keeping me inspired! I decided to leap right into it, and created a title page of cou...

Street Art and Vinyl

So yesterday was ridiculously sunny here in essex, and although an overwhelming amount of uni work is still technically at the top of my to-do list, I couldn't resist taking a short train journey to London for the day. So instead of surrounding myself with the contents of my art collection, trying intensively to rack my brain for some inspiration, I threw caution to the wind, and unsurprisingly I stumbled across a lot of cool stuff throughout the day.  Like this for example, on Brick lane:  I guess it's sort of a form of cubism? I especially like how they have mixed real human features with block colour. Surreal. I think it has something to do with raising awareness of homelessness. Which is of course a very serious topic, and what better way to promote an important issue than to plaster it onto an outside wall on a busy street for all to see? Clever advertising!  his eyes look sad. Brick Lane/Shoreditch is definitely one of my favourite...
