Absence

I haven't made a post in over two months now... so I thought it was definitely about time. I think to keep a blog is quite fulfilling and for me is a great way to generate inspiration for myself. However I also only feel like posting if I have something half decent to show. Lately I've been feeling pretty uninspired, and truthfully I've been rather lazy where artwork is concerned. But, its summer, so I think thats fair, to an extent! Usually my strategy is simple, I'll have a sudden rush of motivation and creativity, I'll sit down for a while and make something cool, then I'll have a mental block for a while (sometimes this is days) and eventually i'll have a surge of creativity again. However, this summer has just been one huge mental block for me and I've not created many things that I'd want to post/share. But I'm sure that will soon change as I'm heading back to university in a week for the second year of my Illustration degree. My aim is to get back into the routine of regular blogging, possibly even weekly. This shouldn't be too hard as I'll be creating lots and will have lots more to show! So yeah, exciting.

I have however been continuing with my visual diary, if nothing else art related, sketching quick drawings of things I've been up to over the summer! Here are some illustrations from my diary. I'd give a description of each but I think they're all pretty literal and self explanatory!

Also here are a some other things that I've done (from some of my more insightful days)

French Bulldogs are awesome. When I eventually move out I will definitely adopt one of these beauties!
This was made in photoshop, obviously, as my talent doesn't stretch as far as creating perfect symmetry freehand!

I really like foxes. This was just a little random doodle I did ages ago but I found it the other day and thought it was cute so I scanned it into photoshop to add colour. An uninvited guest at the party.

Did this one ages ago too. Grey skin, bit weird. Grumpy smoker.

Went a bit overboard on the hair.
I got some new pens and this was the first thing I drew with them. Fun fact for you there.

I had this idea of creating really cute fun little pieces of artwork that people could hang in children's hospitals or nurseries. I wanted the animals to look reasonably plain but peaceful and welcoming, with positive happy colours. I also made another version of this illustration but with the letters 'E e' in the corner, like one of those 'learn the alphabet' things that we all recognise from early childhood. This is an idea I'm definitely going to develop because its fun and I really like the way that this one turned out!

I made some jewells

And I added them to this illustration. I LOVE Lorde. Her music is amazing especially coming from someone so young. And the way she dresses is super cool and different. This is the second drawing I've done of her, just because she has such a unique look thats so edgy and interesting.

Thanks for reading/looking at the pictures!

The Perfect Cup of Tea

Soooo, Ive been looking further into the posible options for this project. At the moment I think I have whittled the choice down to two, and I am definatley struggling with any further desicion making! My first possible choice: The perfect cup of tea. This choice would lead me to creating something based on  step by step instructons through illustration.  Throughout our lives we come across such commodities as road signs, escape routes, aeroplane safety instructions. Most are mainly conveyed through simple illustrations, as to be understood quickly and efficiently in possible times of panic. Although I would not consider 'How to make the perfect cup of tea' a particular urgency, I will definitely be able to take inspiration from the above instructions to help with the project.   In June 2011, Richard Alleyne a former science correspondent, and senior general news reporter for the Daily Telegraph until April 2013, wrote an article on how scientists had discov...

Fun with Photoshop

One of my original drawings for my Methodology project stood out to me from the beginning. It was this of three childlike Fennec Foxes adventuring through the Sahara. To me it seems that the three foxes are young, perhaps this is the first time they have ventured out of their den without their mother. Obviously they are cartoon characterisations of the Fennec Fox , but there is a charm about them that inspired me to continue to draw these creatures as well as the Red Fox .  Ive always been very fond of enhancing my artwork through Photoshop, although I'm still learning how to properly manage the software to its full potential.  Origional drawing After having been manipulated in Photoshop
